#1 Apples is about cut fruit as a love language and how parents in Asian cultures often show their love for their children by giving them cut fruit. My mum always cut me apples growing up and it happened so regularly that I thought everyone’s parents did that. It was nice to chat with folks about what fruits their parents cut for them growing up as I developed this piece. The work has 8 little purple people and 8 slices of apple because 8 is a very lucky number in Chinese culture. This piece is dedicated to my Cantonese and Asian community.
